wanted to celebrate my birthday with some of my friends and naturally i wanted to go to strawberry and get into some fish. we left at around 6am arriving in Heber at 7:15. everything was going well until i decided to make a quick pit stop at walmart. got back and my car was completely dead... to make a long story short we had to push my car to a local autozone where they promptly told me i needed a new battery, not wanting to let my friends down i dropped the $120 and got back on the road.
we arrived on the lake at 10:30, fished for about 2 hours. used spoons and kastmasters from the shore and managed to catch some nice slot cutts even with the sun beating down pretty intensely. I switched over to a small white tube and quickly wished i had done it sooner, i managed to catch about 3 nice fish only about 10-15 feet from shore in only a few casts.
Sadly im one o the few 19 year olds out there who can fish all day long and not get bored or in this case ridiculously hungry. my friends all wanted to go home and i was forced to leave much earlier than i had intended. funny thing is when we wanted to leave, my car decided to die again, by this point i knew it wasn't the battery and after receiving some help from a very nice gentlemen (who knew a lot more about cars than me...) we were able to get home in one piece. needless to say my dad and i both payed a visit to autozone and i am happy to announce that i will be getting a full refund.
definitely "one of those trips", i will be heading back up there this sunday with a buddy of mine who so far has proven to have equal stamina to mine when it comes to fishing!

Walmart has auto batteries. Would have saved on pushing the car to Autozone.

Yeah but we didnt know what the problem was at the time. Countless people tried to jumstart us with no success. We figured autozone could help us identify the issue which in the end they did not. The connectors were bad, not the battery. Bad service on their part.

Well let me know next time you go up! I just pack lunch in the cooler so I never have to leave... Nice work on the fish!

If you want to come and get it I'll give you a great fly for strawberry as a birthday gift.

I'm glad your birthday turned out good for you. I also fished the Berry on my Bday and caught my age in fish.

That was funny.

BTW I caught 52.

I'm 20 and can hike and fish all day without eating or drinking...not the smartest thing to do but, you know how that goes. If you ever need someone to go fishing with shoot me a PM.

Auto zone is a part store. They are salesmen not auto techs. They do not now how to diag a problem! They now how to sell parts

I've gotten better advice from oreillys.

I've gotten better advice from google.com than any parts store. Anywhere.
I'm replacing the water pump on my Dirtymax. I need a 12 point 36mm socket to get the harmonic balancer off and a way to stop the flywheel from turning. Both Autozone and O'reilly gave me the 'deer in the headlight' stare. I've torn apart a Cummins and most of a Duramax with help from friends and the internet. Parts stores are for stuff that's not worth ordering online like hose clamps and thermostats in the winter.
On a plus note and back to the subject. I'm thinking a trip to the berry the beginning of November. My bass fishing buddies will be venturing South but I'm staying local and looking for that big cutt at the berry with my big boy baits that I throw for big largemouth. I've gotten completely sidetracked. America kicks butt [Wink]

I may have to take you up on that! Same goes for trout man. I do agree with you guys on auto parts stores not knowing anything but it ticks me off that they would sell me a brand new battery when my old one was perfectly fine. I took it in just yesterday and in less than 5 mins oriley's was able to tell me it was a perfectly good battery.

And it took you how many days ?????? [Smile] I know, I know, you caught 42 I caught 3 , you have never let me forget .

He's talking about a different day/trip altogether.

It was a trip where I caught 42 and he caught... well a few less than that.

And now everyone knows, but no problem, everyone has their day. [Smile] Strawberry fished very well today, but did not catch my age ,but 66 is a little tough, did put a pretty good dent in that number in 5 hours on the water .
