I was supposed to help BLM build his boat garage today but I Lines got crossed and I ended up fishing instead.
Anywho, since I wasnt where I was supposed to be the fish gods saw fit to punish everyone on the lake.
It was pretty slow today compared to last week. There was less people out there, a total of nine for the day.
We never did find any active fish. We picked up ones and twos here and there, and got a grand total of seven fish for the day.
I wandered over and discussed the situation with some of the other anglers, and found that they were having worse luck than I was.
Then a fish and game officer showed up and made his rounds on the lake, checking liscenses and fish. When he was all done he came over and said we had out fished everyone there. One group got skunked, not even a bite, one group had one fish, and the largest group had four fish between them.
Pretty dog gone slow.
The good news is that the snow had melted off the road, and you can drive all the way to the ice edge.
Tried shallow, tried deep, punched a bunch of holes, and in the end found that it was fun anyways. Not typical results for early season ice fishing. Usually its real good, and slows as the year goes on, but if you never got humbled you wouldnt learn much right?
To make matters worse, the sun hid behind the clouds most of the day, it rained a bit, and the wind blew pretty regular. I didnt care since I was indoors, but there were a few brave souls out there in the elements trying to get bit.
