Yea, there is a big problem with those Sea Lions(SL). If anyone were ever to get hurt by one of those SL, I think they would start controlling them better but I guess they are usually not threating to humans. Still, they are animals and I think it will be just a matter of time before something bad happens[frown].

If I'm not mistaken CA put a regulation on killing Sea Lions a few years back that cause a huge increase in sea lion numbers now I thought I read there looking to dissolve the regulation.
So Sea Lion may be on the menu [pirate] lol

Seals and Sea Lions are a HUGE problem to the runs of salmon and steelhead. River mouths and dam ladders are smorgasbord for them.

Yes, you are right CA did have that law about not killing the SL, so I hope that is true because it can't keep going on like this. Yumm Sea Lion steaks[

Not only Salmon and Steelhead but also Sturgeon. I have seen reports of Sea lions killing 8 and 10 ft Sturgeon. Even the enviromentalist should be thinking by now that allowing no killing of SL is causing problems by allowing the decline in the Salmon population[crazy].

It is pretty much the same problem with the pelicans and the wolves. The pelicans that nest at Blackfoot Reservoir are Fed protected yet they are wiping out a unique run of cutthroats on the Blackfoot R. Not to mention what they do to our other fish.
The wolves in some areas have about wiped out our game herds. At least now they can be thinned a little, but it is already too late for the guides and hunters of those areas. It will be a very long time before there is a balance, if ever.
Anytime you OVER protect a species....other species are going to suffer. And usually the sportsmen also.
Most sportsmen are all for the environment....as a whole. Armchair environmentalists never see the whole picture. Tunnel vision at it's finest!
