Took my boat up for the last boat trip of the year yesterday. Air temp was 25 at launch time at Renegade. Fished straight east of the boat ramp. Used worms and minnows under a bobber down about 4 feet. We caught 80% of our fish this way. Caught others on tube jigs and Rapalas. Fished in water 22 to 35 feet. Didn't mark as many fish on sonar in shallower water. Probably caught around 50 but stopped counting after awhile. Mostly slot cutts but did pick up 6 Rainbows two going 22.5 and 21 inches. We started fishing about 8AM and left at 1PM and NO WIND, it was a nice day.

Sounds awesome !!! Great report ! I'm going out there tomorrow. Hope the 50 you caught are all recovered and ready to eat some more.
Did you find more success with minnows, or with worms?
Did you do any trolling, or did you pretty much just stop at different places and try it?
I went about a week ago to the area East of Renegade and 4 of us caught about 12. I hardly ever saw anything on the fish finder, even when we were catching them.
Is there some trick you know for locating the schools of trout? Is it useful to just troll around until you find them, or do they just run away from the boat?
I love it when they are hungry and biting at Strawberry.
Thanks for the report !!

Be prepared for the weather making a difference. This cold front will change things. Could be for the better, could be worse.
Try shallow as Love2fish mentioned or try deep (that is where my 50+ come from[

])
Anyway, be safe and catch lots.

Trolling is my last resort, don't like it.
We did about the same using using worms and minnows.
As far as finding the fish I usually fish the same area because I usually do well there. I don't anchor, I have an I-Pilot but don't use it to hold us in the same spot. When we mark a lot of fish we just start fishing there and drift along. After we have drifted and we stop marking fish we go back and start over again.
Most of the fish we marked were between 10 ft and 28 ft but sometimes deeper. But we are still catching most of our fish on bobber down 4 ft. Most everyone we saw were all fishing deeper and they were not doing as well as us. Although we did catch some on Rapalas and tube jigs tipped with a worm. I did try a few flys including the old 'Strawberry Special' but did get any hits.
If you are going tomorrow you better dress for the weather because it's not suppose to be very nice.

So the fish are not moving? They are staying in the same spot after several days? That is really cool! I have tried hitting same spots but it changes[

Sure they move in an out depending on struture. That's why I fish the same spot 75% of the time. Fish like it there but I've been skunked there too.
