Hey everyone, I was just wondering?.....
Has anyone went after kokes through the ice on flaming gorge? We catch kokes through the ice at other places. Why dont you here about any ice fishing for kokes on the gorge?

This February me WH2 and WiperSlayer went up to targeting mac pups. I was seeing large schools on the fish finder so I dropped two rods on Jaw Jackers and got these two. So it is possible. I think it all comes down to the fact that the gorge is so big, to find schools consistently is not likely. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with WM, big bodies of water are tough. For folks that have caught kokes during the hard water season, they might be able to go back to those same spots and catch fish year after year but I doubt it because kokes seldom stay in the same area for long unless it is a small body of water. I think it is worth a try though, so we might give it another try this coming ice season at the Gorge.

]ntly catch kokes at the gorge, i watched a guy and his son catch their limit in half an hour last winter, but yes the key is to find them and most of the time i have found they like to hang out in coves about 15ft down in 25-30 feet of water.

Well thanks guys. I wondered, I think we are gonna at least do one trip on the hard deck this year to the gorge. I will do a post and let you know what happens.

Forrest,
Why do you drive to the Ocean and fish for the bait??
We can only hope that everything stays ice free this year (impossible), a fisherman without his boat just as well be fishing in the dark.
