Full Version: Strawberry ice warning in the Narrows

Went fishing two strawberry yesterday and there was some ice in the narrows. There were a bunch of floating sections of it probably half inch to an inch thick. There was one place where we couldn't actually get across without breaking through some of the ice. Kind of dicey. Main lake is fine but if you go on that little horseshoe through the Narrows to get from renegade to the middle of strawberry you'll find some ice in the middle there on the north end of that horseshoe. Be careful if you're going on the horseshoe, or better yet, avoid that horseshoe completely. It is dangerous in a boat.

As for fishing, it was kind of slow. My son got one and I got four but I was expecting a lot more based on some of the reports of these 20 fish days that people are having. I tried in renegade and that's where we caught a couple. We got the rest by just drifting across the middle of the lake from the north end of the horseshoe to the marina.

It was a beautiful day though. I guess it looks like it's getting to be a lot colder there next week so I think I'm done for the season. Have fun all you crazy crazy crazy crazy lunatic ice fishermen!

Thanks for the report. I was up there Wednesday, and it was nice. After this Tuesday storm, boats will be difficult to get out on there again. Especially if it snows like what is being predicted.
