Does anyone know who sells colored live fish bait? Prefferably some type of larvae. Thanks for any info.

Unfortunately the places we frequent for bait I have yet to see any colored anything that is live. I'm sure somewhere here in Utah has them.

Last hard deck season I ordered multi colored maggots and waxies on line from the link below. Arrived in great condition and lasted a long time when kept per the directions. This place also carries spikes but none that are colored...

Good info Kim, do you usually order the 500 or 1000 count orders? What color have you found that works the best?

I ordered the 500 count multi colored maggots and also 500 waxies. Found the red and blue colored maggots worked well. But all the colors produced and IMO better than waxies. I'll be putting my order in soon. I find buying in bulk is cheaper than buying the 36 count waxies containers locally. Including I don't have to worry about not being able to find any once the bodies of water we frequent have safe ice.

I've ordered from the same place that K2 mentioned. No complaints. I'll be placing an order soon. I've only bought wax worms from them but they were some seriously fat waxies and worked well.

Spikes vs waxies vs butterworms vs mousees vs maggots . . . does it really matter the species of bait when it comes to the pale soft-skinned larvae?

I find waxies work better than mealworms, but mealworms stay on the hook better. Never used Butter worms or Mousee, but if a mousee is anything like a rat finkee, rat finkee's work well.

I found the same place online and have had some issues getting my order I place about 2 weeks ago.

First of they said I had to 2nd day air the package or it wouldn't make it, that was 2-3 days after I placed the order. Then when I said ok I'll pay the $27 shipping and just send it I got a call about a week later asking if I still wanted the order. I said yes and didn't even get a "sorry we screwed up". It honestly didn't seem like they cared much either time I talked to them not to mention the 4-5 different people I got bounced around to. Not exactly a good experience with them so far.

With that being said I order a pretty good selection of new baits like butter, mouses and colored spikes. We'll see "if" I get them tomorrow and what kinda shape they are in.

Got the order today and it was packed very well and all the critters are in great shape. Now we'll see how these new goodies work out on the ice.

I'm not sure you better give them a call. They told me they couldn't, but I place the order about 3 weeks ago so maybe it was because it hadn't cooled enough yet.

I never asked or was asked or used the 2nd day air. I ordered twice from them last season with no issues no additional fees just what I ordered. Glad NICH all arrived in great condition. I do know when you order as I recall on their page maybe when ordering they will do the quickest delivery and take into account weather conditions.

I would recommend calling them first. I placed my order it went thru fine then they called me a few days later to tell me about the shipping issue.

After reading their shipping policy, I decided to call them. I found out why it cost you more. The regular price is as quoted Mon-Wens no later than noon. After noon on Wens they only ship two day delivery, so if you had told them you could wait until the following week you would have paid the regular price. I guess I'll wait until Mon to place my order. Here is their policy on orders:

If that is the case, I'd call them up and complain. Something does not sound right unless it is because you said it was ok to ship it two day delivery instead of waiting. It might not do any good because their policy is clearly stated but you could always ask they about it.

I'll just chalk it up to a learning experience since I've never bought bait over the inter webs before. And it sounds like my experience was an exception. These butter worms look sooooooo juicy, can't wait to feed them to some fish.
