I thought my Son in law was crazy when he said he read on this forum that Scofield had 3" of ice and was capped. Well he was right!
4 of us was at the damn arm at 7:00, ice was clear, and slippery. ventured out about 6 ft and drilled, 4", moved deeper about 10' 3-4" of ice. Depth was 12-13' with fish marked on the bottom. Went out a little deeper, 14-15' ice still at a solid 3". fish on bottom and in the column. Decided that was as far as I wanted to go. Drilled a bunch holes and got started. Of course Son in law #1 caught the first one as usual, then Son in law #2 got going and between them they caught 5-6 before I decided to move deeper and caught 2. All fish caught were cuts in the slot, and I think one bow at about 12". Son in law # 2 caught the biggest fish of his life, a FAT cut that went 21 1/2" I tried my best to stretch the tape, but no go, had to put him back. Ended at 10:30 when the ice started to make more noise than I am used to hearing. LOL for the first time I caused a crack on the surface when I got to close to Son in law #1. 3' away a crack went from my foot to his. [shocked]SPOOOOOKY. total fish caught was 12. Not bad for my earliest ice fest.

The lake was capped. not sure about thickness on main lake, but it did not look very safe. With the cold temps coming in this week, it should be safe everywhere by next weekend.[cool]

Anytime you are on new ice like that it is always spooky, so good to hear it went well and you guys iced a few fish. The whole lake should be good to go soon with these cold temp so you the ice should be thicker on your next trip up there. Did you take any pics of the big one?
