My buddy Jason finally got his boat going again and was out scouting for some crappie. Told me had had found some in an area and it made me a little jealous. I asked Mike if he wanted to go early on sunday and he said yes! Wooooohooooo, going fishing! We launched around 7 and got to the spot pretty quick, didn't take long and Mike had one on his first cast...this is gonna be a good day! We fished the same stretch the majority of the day and had a couple of food orders. We decided to only keep fish between 11-12 in. We had fished the crappie benefit a few weeks ago and caught over 100 but struggled for size and only at 4 1/4 (I think) for our 7 fish limit. Well we definitely would have beaten that yesterday. Between the 3 of us we got our limits and 41 of the 45 were between 11-12 in(no fish over 13 Sad) We fished until 1:30 and caught a ton. Color really didn't seem to matter, Mike had his best luck on BG Electric Chicken and Blue Thunder, I caught the majority of mine on BG Mo Glo Twighlight, Outlaw Special, and Liquorice Chartreuse(but caught fish on pretty much every color, just kept switching to refire them up). No count on the total, but it was a lot, we have decided to bring some clickers for livewell and total for our next trip. We fished the same docks and bank for the majority of the day, but we did try a brush pile that normally produces......only 2 of it so we moved back to the good stretch. We were sitting in 18-20 ft of water throwing into 8-12 ft and the count varied. I would say most came on a 5-7 count. All in all, it was a great day with some buddies and got rid of some stress. Weather was good for the most part with very little wind. Pretty sure all the fish were consumed the same day by the people who received them! Not gonna lie, kinda getting hooked on the crappie! Pretty sure Jason said he caught his on Mo Glo Bluegrass, and tube jigs red/white/chartreuse. At one point he just started throwing a naked lead head and sure enough caught a keeper. 1/16 oz-(any color)5-7 count produced all day. Cant wait for another trip! Don't remember what Mike had the night before, but early he had to make a run for the border and I had to jump in Jason's boat, he actually saw some fish in HBSP and caught a keeper before coming back, he can add what he saw.
