Fishing on the river has been mighty tough for Pete Jr. and me the last week or so. Sat. a week ago we fished for 8 hours throwing the tackle box at'em and got humiliated catching only 2 small spots and a tiny meanmouth. Last Tuesd pm I caught a 2 lb. largemouth on the first cast and that was it except for a late dink. The drum were biting to give us some action, but that's not what we wanted.

We fished black Fri. and Sat. mostly in the afternoon and only caught 2 keeper smallies, a couple of near keeper smallies, a few small LM and spots and a boat load of drum. The smallie keepers were 18 and 19 in.

Honestly, Sat. we caught over 100 lbs. of drum. I can't help but think how many starving people in this world would kill to get some of these fat and protein laden critters, but we get annoyed with them and just throw them back. Right here at Thanksgiving, makes you think how blessed we are in this country.

Most of our fish were caught on jigs with plastic trailers and tubes. Fri. the flow was 47K cfs and Sat. they had just reduced the flow from 47K to 27K cfs. when we got there. Surface temp was 48, I think, maybe a little less. All fish released.

We got to see some of the Christmas Parade boats, a beautiful sight on the water.

We enjoyed a chat with the Chupaska father/ son team and waved at shsimons as he came by.
