Yesterday the whole lake looked to be capped with snow on top. I can't tell you how thick the ice is but the last 2 mornings it has been -14 and -18.

I'm hoping with these temperatures that it freezes enough to fish quick, I'm getting anxious! Does anyone know if it takes the narrows longer to freeze? I wasn't sure if it would freeze as fast as the rest of the lake since it is deeper.

The narrows can freeze faster. Although deeper it is a skinny piece if the lake that does not get much wind. So it is like a bay and freezes quick.

Once it's capped, with temps that low, it should be safe within a couple of days. Ice builds very quickly in sub-zero temperatures. I'm going to head up to the narrows in the morning with my auger to see for myself.
I anticipate 2-3" of good, solid, clear black ice though. Definitely fishable if one uses caution and takes appropriate safety measures.
