My power auger was out of commission, so on my last outing I took my manual. Took 15 minutes to drill a hole on 6 inches of ice. I had a blade sharpener and attempted to sharpen 'em up. Well, after using the sharpener, it would baredly scratch the ice up. Looks like the sharpener changed the blade angle, and not in a good way.
Anyone know how to sharpen these things or know of someplace near I.F. that does? Or should I just give up and get new blades? I've repaired my power auger, but still like to keep the manual for backup in case of a breakdown.

Did the blades come off the auger. If so I would check to see if they were put on the wrong way.

Thanks for the feedback, I do appreciate it. The auger is an Eskimo with turbo blades. The blades are quite large and have a curve to them. Maybe that is why the sharpener wouldn't work on them? The blades have never been off the auger. It would make short work of cutting a 8 inch hole in 8 inches ice when it was new. I will check with Waters and see if they can put the edge back on. Just seems wasteful to have to trash the blades. New blades cost half what the auger cost to begin with...

Thanks for the advice for MY Strike Master. I enjoy it a lot but I have not switched blades or sharpened for almost 4 seasons. Would probably do to buy some and send old ones in for sharpening.

If ya didn't already know the barracuda with the turbo blades are the same as the ones on stikemaster lazers and much easier to find

I also have a eskimo. I like to just replace them every year. Twenty bucks at sportsmans. Nothing more frustrating than having blades that don't cut.

Was at Walcott today and every hole had a rock next to it for a pole holder. Gonna suck later in the year. Just saying.

Last year it was the same way at Blackfoot Res. Near the Dam . They were putting rocks on the ice for rod holders .

I have had the same experience trying to sharpen my own blades! However, a friend showed me how to sharpen them on a belt sander! Works great and is the only way to sharpen them!!
