I had a few guys asking me how things were for launching, thought I would post up my observations before someone drives 2 hours and can't get on the water.

As of today the mouth of the marina is locked up with a large ice jam, sheets of 4-8" ice bergs stacked on top of one another. We tried ramming our way through it with no luck...it was like a brick wall. Boats made it out yesterday, but last night we had a NE wind blowing ice from up north all over the west edge of the lake. Lots of ice floating in the lake as well, possibly going to compound the problem at the marina. If you do get out keep your eyes open for ice sheets.

Could change in a few days or get worse, just use caution especially if your in a small boat. The ice was bumping my 21' boat pretty hard Smile

Ice is also rolled up on the east side, launching was possible, but a little sketchy, ramps were somewhat plowed but I wouldn't go over there without having tire chains with me.

Good luck all and have a Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the update. I was hoping to head over this week, but maybe no one will be fishing it this winter if it doesn't freeze solid.

I will, you will have to head over with me, hahaha

As of this morning, launching at the marina looks doable....west wind blew ice back into the lake...still some sheets if ice to bang through in the marina and floating in the lake...but I think you will be just fine...for now Smile
