Did anyone hit Mantua today? I want to take the kids out tomorrow but would like to know if there is enough actions to keep them entertained. Thanks.

until the sun comes up it is pretty good fishing with ratsos and rat finkees and other panfish jigs tipped with waxies, but once the sun comes up it slows down a bunch.

Notoriously fast fishing in December, Mantua typically slows down greatly once the fishing pressure mounts. Early to Mid January, the bite gets even slower, some call it lock jaw.
That place looks like a zoo out there most days. You can't tell me that doesn't effect it.
Watch out for the swiss cheese ice.

Lots of people, lots of fish, but they had lock jaw. We got there around 8 am. Fish all over the flasher, few bites. We tried about everything we could think of. Still... it was a good day to be out. We stayed until noon and between 3 of us, caught 12.

You're not coming out on a Sun are ya? I'm aiming to give it a go. Sleds in the car, buckets bins and rods at hand.
Seen quite a few tents on Fri mid-morn.
Lots of people! Did notice it was a little slower today. But if everyone on the pond pulled out one fish, I am surprised there are any left. ;-) We started out by the dock and had little luck. We then moved to the south east corner and caught a few decent trout and bluegill. We were using ice flies and tube jigs. Did see quite a few fish on the finder that weren't biting. good luck!
