Is holmes considered a community fishery?? just wanted to know if it was the community fishery one 2 fish rule or the normal rules. cause they have changed a bunch of stuff up at holmes.

Unless the rules have changed Holmes reservoir, between I80 and valley view GC is a normal reservoir. It used to be a community fishery a few years ago but they released it.

I asked the same question a year or so ago and got a pretty good response from quite a few vet's here. Maybe try searching the threads for more info.


From what I heard they made it okay for floating on as well now. But shortly after they made it okay I person drowned there so I'm not sure It'll stay that way long.

Is it iced up yet? Feel free to post a report if you go out. I really enjoy Holmes in the winter! Though I have not been out fishing since spring!

No it is not and the fishing is great rt now lots of sunnys and small trout. Great place to take kids.

Still general Utah rules apply, but it is walk in access now. Be careful, there are two place the water comes in: on the western side on the left closer to the houses is a pipe and to the right corner is a main inlet. (both are spots I've caught keepable size fish in the spring/fall) There are some big bass and bluegill in there, but you'll mostly be catching small trout. Good Luck and be careful, that place is much deeper than you would expect.

ice is frozen, it is decent to good fishing for 11 inch or smaller bows out in the middle, by the dam is crap.

i had a friend fish it this morning, by the dam, nothing, anywhere else on the lake, they couldn't keep them off their lines. in about thirty minutes they caught 20 fish
