Clark and I went down to chester frost to try for some of the quality largemouth. Concerned that the cold night temps might have shut the bit down, but with 10 floodgates open at watts bar sauger fishing is not an option. I caught shellcracker yesterday and ready for some of the big green fish. We fished along the main river channel and a few coves close to deep water above and below chester frost. threw crankbait, jerkbait, spinnerbait, T-rig and red eye shad. fished in water 2 ft to 15 ft. after 3 hours of fishing caught 1 largemouth in 2 fow around a tree laydown with spinnerbait. tried some rock areas near the channel drop with jerkbait and nothing. saw some fish down at 18-20 ft and I thought might be shellcracker. pulled out my 1/8 oz jig and put a fresh piece of night crawler on --- bam --- good sized drum. We went from there up to the nuclear plant discharge -- never fished there before. tried the rip rap, nothing -- went in two coves on the Highway 58 side of the lake --- got one more bite with night crawler in 10 fow. that was it for the day. not sure where I will fish on Saturday. Christmas vacation about to be over --- weather today was great, fish catching was bad --- the LORD provided a good day for fishing -- cant get much more comfortable day this time of the year. especially fishing with a great friend and just relaxing for the day. water temp around 48 - 49 degrees
