I went up to Lost Creek last Saturday hoping for some fun ice fishing. We got on the hard deck at about 7:15 am. There were already several fellow anglers setting up or already jigging. We chose a spot just off the South West corner near the dam. We settled in 30 feet of water with paddle bugs or ice flies tipped with meal worms. Within an hour I had pulled 3 cuts about 11" to 15". Then it all went dead. We stayed until almost 2:00 before we called it a day.

A very nice gentleman from the DWR was going around surveying people for their success, and from what he said, it sounded like everyone else was getting the same results we were. The lake was amazingly crowded. The parking lot was full. I had people plunging holes less than 10 feet from my shleter. Not cool. We tried moving around several times, and tried different depths. Now that I think about it, perhaps I should have tried really deep. I don't know if that woudl have made a difference or not.

On the upside, it was a beautiful day. The sun came out in the afternoon and it was a great day to be away from the gunky air in Salt Lake. I was also trying out my new drill adapter I bought from Sportsman's warehouse for Christmas. This one is different from other adapters I have seen and used. You actually replace the chuck on your drill and connect it to a small framework that helps decrease the strain on the battery by obsorbing some of the tork put on the motor. It worked beautifully! It is made by CLAM. It only cost $60. Well worth it. I packed two 18 v batteries, but only needed one. I drilled well over 30 holes on one battery with plenty of juice left for more.

There is a vidoe of it in action on Sportsman's website if you are interested.

Sounds like its died down since last Wednesday. When I wasn't catching fish they were definitely having a ball swiping at my Cut'r bugs and Gazillas. Hoping to take my gf there this Saturday or Sunday. Thanks for the report.

Different story for us. we went north of the dam over to the left of the island\peninsula? water depth was 94 feet, I thought no way we would catch any at that depth. we were there about 830 till about 230. between three of us we caught 17 all between 15" and 19". wasn't fast and furious but much bigger that what I catch in the boat in the summer. was using those "gitzee or gizzy ? bugs tipped with wax worms. All and all i was happy because I thought we wouldn't catch any.

NICE! I am glad someone was catching fish. Wow. 94 feet. I knew I should have gone deeper. I don't know that I woudl have gone that deep though. Funny.

I was there today. One hole I drilled was over 100 ft deep. Cutts were 20-40 feet down. I saw some fish on the finder 90ft down, and had a bite at 60 feet deep but it got off.

What size auger do you have ? I was looking at the Clam drill setup but figured it may not be powerfull enough for my 8'' auger.
