Wanting to bring my 8 year old up to chesterfield tomorrow, how thick is the ice? Any fishing reports? Thanks

We fished last Friday for most of the day and it was one of the slowest days I've had at chesterfield. Moved a few times and found an area that produced some smaller fish. Caught 2 decent fish but overall very slow. Ice was 14 inches where we were. Hope this helps!

Typical Chesterfield. The bite really drops off after the ice has been on a while. A few weeks back it was quite good, but lately it has been terrible. This is how Chesterfield plays out every year. The early bird gets the worm at that place.

I fished it on 12-31-13. Caught about 10 fish all small, but one. Light bight missed alot more. Trick was to keep the bait moving when fish were on the screen.

Fished it yesterday , very light bite and very slow fishing for us!

Got skunked there on Thursday. Won't go ice fishing there again. At least not until early ice next year.

I think there is reasonable cause to be a little concerned about Chesterfield. As low as it was this summer/fall I think the fish numbers suffered. There are still some good fish left but
I haven't seen the middle size footballs that are usually prevalent and easy to catch this time of year. The fish we caught were either 12 inchers or 20+ inchers. And with the winter we are having so far it doesn't look good for next year either. I hope I am wrong but just worried. Has anyone else caught many 14-18 inch healthy fish this winter?

We pulled out 3 in that range this weekend. Most were right about 12"

we fished it twice and a very good percentage of them were 12 to 16
