Looking for any info on Mantua Reservoir, current ice conditions...the whole gig.
From what I have heard there are still big bluegill in there and I am curious to find out for myself but don't want to get up there and get skunked.
Any help would be great

Ice is plenty safe.
Fishing has slowed considerably.
Still some fish in there though...if you can get away from the metropolis that shows up on Saturdays.

fishing was steady the other day for us there were a few 4 wheelers and a side by side running around on the ice getting to their favorite spots. ice was 10"+ and the edges were good where we got on the ice off the south side of the lake. good luck fishing[fishin]

I just got home from mantua. Ice was 15 inches thick. Caught 8 small perch 2 were decent but not huge. No blue gills where I was. Hoped to get a few. Action was not steady. I marked fish regularly on the finder but had to jig like crazy to force a bite. Tried almost everything in the tacklebox. Tried crawled bits, spikes, wax worms, and eyeballs. Bottom line there are fish there but the big fat dumb ones have already been caught.

So Jim, how was the catching for you, was it worth the long drive down from Wyoming?

Nice to hear that people are having some luck, to bad I am slow on the action
Thanks for all the info guys!

yup my son and I had a great day on the ice and had some steady action with lots of light bites. We caught some trout bluegills and some big perch to.
Yup its a long trip for sure 340 miles round trip but that's closer than Pelican lake and we go there a lot. I haven't ice fished mantua for years but it was a great day on the ice and im looking forward to going back to give it another try soon.
It wasn't as fast of action as we have been having at pelican lake but theres no perch in Pelican lake. Mantua has perch bluegills and bass Oh and trout to

Glad to hear you and your son were able to make it to Mantua and caught some fish. One more fish to add to your list is Green Sunfish. I got one on my first trip there this ice season and thought it was a trout it pulled so hard[crazy]. I haven't caught any perch over 9" but I did catch a 10" gill there, how big were the perch and gills you caught?

yup I haven't caught a green sunfish those are great fighters in the summer but never caught any through the ice. Well I caught the smaller ones while my son put the smack down on a couple of Big perch heres the biggest that went 11" and a 9" bluegills

We are still hooking lots of fish off my custom plastics. It just doesn't get much better than that other than taking my son and him catching some BIG fish it was a nice day on the ice but would have been better if my son wasn't in school today and could have gone with me.
