The weather held out long enough for Rick and I to make a short trip to the Nickajack tailwaters to fish for whatever would bite. Rick was hoping for sauger, but nothing happening there. White bass made the trip fun.

We kept 17 white bass and threw back 1/2 dozen more that needed to put a little weight on. We didn't get any boat paddles, but some nice keeper sized fish. I took 2 home for dinner and Rick took a limit home for the freezer. We caught our fish on blade baits in 17 feet of water. They only were active during the solunar period that our magic watches had predicted. Outside of that time frame, we only caught a couple of Drum. I got a little one and Rick landed one that was well over 15 lbs and probably pushing 20. I added a little yellow bass and Rick caught a bluegill and one largemouth bass. That was it.

We were hoping for more and bigger whites, but these were a lot of fun to catch on 6 lb test line. It looked like Nickajack dam had all flood gates open a little bit. We stayed out of the current.

Let's do this again soon, Rick. I really enjoyed the time out after the freezing weather that we had. Almost had cabin fever. emoBigSmile
