Don't count out Chesterfield! As my son-in-law and I hit the lake at first light we decided today we would join the FBI (FISH BONKIN IDAHOANS) with the intent of taking home some nice fillets and bonkin some bows. No offense Idahoans I live in Idaho Falls myself. The action was steady until about 1:00, about a thirty minute lull then back at it until 3:00 and we had our limit. We got a 22 inch 5lb. 14oz, a 21 inch 4lb. 4oz., a 21 inch 3lb. 14oz. and a 2lb. 18 incher. Not bad for a absolutely beautiful day, little wind and a lot of sun. Here are a few photos. Maybe a video tomorrow!

Happy fishing!

Chesterfield is also coming up. I would say they got about 5 inches of heavy wet snow. I had my four wheeler with me and couldn't get on ice at the ramp so I moved up the lake about 50 yards and got on. When I came back in the afternoon, where I had got on in the morning had a foot of water on it and about twenty feet from shore. So we moved towards dam and there were plenty of places to get on without getting wet. It's going to take some cold to freeze up the edges after this warm spell. I also took my spoon and measured the ice at 18 inches thick, so nice and safe.

Can't beat those rainbows out of the ice cold water for eating. Making me hungry, waiting for Ririe to freeze so I can get some fillets myself, might just go up there with the boat instead.

What is the best depth to fish at in this lake and also were you deadsticking or jigging for those beautiful monsters? I want to fish this body of water tomorrow as I have never been there before

Definitely dead stick. I fish that eight to ten foot range. And dumb down your approach. The more simple your presentation the better. I went with an old man about a month ago and everything he used was crawler, white marshmallow and rainbow power bait. He was the only one to hook into any of the big ones. So this last trip I put away all the paddle bugs, pimples, and kept to just hooks and weights, and slush bugs and my success at getting into the bigger ones went through the roof. Good Luck!

Happy fishing.

Can a guy still drive along the shore or is there too much snow now?

When you were fishing 8 to 10 feet, were you right on the bottom, or out deeper and just fishing up in the column? PM me if you need to. Going down monday taking the kiddos and would just like to get into some fish. Thanks.

In places you can still drive right up to edge. Those big winds did build some drifts in places though.
