I was there last friday and the edges sucked, about 2 feet of walking in ankle high water to get to the ice. I might be going there today around 1:30 I will let you know how the edges are. I was at the boat ramp.

I was out on wednesday and fished from 730-2. Got skunked, tried a bunch of different stuff. We saw schools passing thru, but no fish iced. 3 hits. We talked to some other folks in the area(dam) and they didn't have any luck either. We were talking about it being a full moon that day. Has anyone else noticed any trends with full moon days and ice fishing ? Im a fly fisher getting back to my MN roots during a crappy snowpack. Edges were fine all day

I have noticed that when I fish during a full moon, I always seem to get skunked also. And it doesnt matter if its hard water or soft water. I am not sure if it has any effect on the fish, but I know I dont normally catch anything during them. Im headed up to the Rock on sunday. Im hoping the fishing will pick up by then.

Ended up going to Rockport, got there at 2:30 stayed til dark. edges were great no break through. as for the fishing goes lots of schools showing on the showdown and only 2 landed I tried every thing I had all in different colors both were caught on clear paddle bugs with wax. fished in 40FOW and all fish were in the 10FOW range. Good luck maybe the mornings will be better.

1-2 weeks ago fishing was still good for me but gosh the edges by the dam were about 3 ft wide gap but only about 6" of water drop luckily in my water proof snow boots.

I'd fish from morning too dark. Found out the best time area was 3 or 4 pm -7 pm. More of the big guy's start too play.

Normally what happens during a full moon is that the fish feed at night so they aren't so hungry during the day. It's common with many game fish. I fish FG regularly, and I noticed that during a full moon the trout bite great after it gets dark and then slow down after midnight, but any other time of the month you don't even see them on the finder after sunset.
I've also noticed quite often that trout don't seem to bite as well just before a front moves in. It's not a hard and fast rule, but all of the times I've been skunked (or nearly skunked) at FG was when I fished just before a front hit. Not a scientific study any means, but a little more of a pattern than coincidence can explain.
I've even seen that in saltwater, and one time I was fishing for lunker bluefish in the Boston area in a place where I could always catch 5-10 20lb fish in a day, but when I fished there just before a hurricane hit there was nothing in the water at all, so the fish can tell when the weather is about to change.

Thanks for the report. I was thinking of trying Rockport Sat morning but was hesitant due to the reports of water along the shore. We'll see how the fishing is. So far that lake hasn't impressed me so much this year. I did go a couple weeks ago and caught several fish ranging from a 6in rainbow to two 16in browns, but most of the fish I saw didn't want to bite. One thing I discovered though is that the browns were more likely to bite if I moved the bait fast and erratically to make it look like it was a small panicked fish trying to get away. When I did that I found that the browns were more agreeable about biting. In fact they often didn't even hesitate. I used small fish-like rubber jigs (the kind with the little tail that wiggles) tipped with a small piece of yellow perch meat so it would look and smell like their natural food.
I look forward to hearing how it goes for you Chubby. Post pics!

I went today after work for a couple hours. The edges were fine by the dam. Ice is plenty thick. Fishing was slow. The only fish I got was a 17 inch cutthroat. A couple other nibbles at that was it.
