I was the first one from what the dnr told me when I went last month. Ice was 4-5" and very slick. Saw fish on sonar but no bites at the main boat ramp.
This the dnr recent report.
On Jan. 7, the reservoir was mostly open water. You can still fish from the shore near the Hailstone side. The Rock Cliff ramp side of the reservoir has some ice, but we've haven't received any recent reports on ice thickness.

The Warrior Princess and I hit it Sunday tried to get to a honey hole I marked before ice up. Started at hailstone launch and drilled every hundred yards or so heading north around the point. Jeanine would follow with the 4 wheeler when I waved the ok. 8" of good ice in the bay then 6 at the point. Clear ice beyond point was 4" with water coming out of the hole. You could walk it however I will not take my wheeler and gear on it. Followed ice east of point to pressure ridge. Looked iffy so headed back into the bay. Drilled around the submerged trees 48' of water marked activity had very light bait stealing bites no takers. Marked a trout about 6' off the bottom and caught a15" brown. One other group arrived after us and did not look like they were knocking it dead either. Don't know if this helps but that is the way it was.
