If you have to get a rental car for any reason, be sure to check your insurance policy to see if rental cars are covered in your full coverage.

As some of you know, I was in a wreck 2 days before Thanksgiving and had to have a rental until yesterday.

When I picked up my rental from Enterprise, the guy made it sound like if I didn't take their insurance, the car would be solely my responsiblilty if anything happened to it.

Foolishly, not wanting to get bent over if anything happened to the rental, I took the insurance for the 1st 6 days, until I found out from Allstate that my full coverage on my car covered rentals! (the guy at Enterprise 'forgot' to mention that I may be already covered under my own insurance!! [mad]) And I found out from an attorney, it's not just for rentals if something happens to your car, it's for ALL rental cars for any reason!

I got stuck with a $95 bill for basically 'liability only' insurance for 6 days and I was already covered! That's already more than I pay for full coverage on my own car for a month let alone 6 dang days!!

$&(#%*& I'm pissed! [crazy][mad][unimpressed]

Don't let any car rental place get away with trying to get more money out of you! They seem to 'forget to mention' things like you could already be covered under your own insurance if you have full coverage.

[cool]I have no love lost for Enterprise. Knowing I was covered by my insurance, I declined the extra policy when I needed a car while on business in Florida. I got dinged by another guy, and he was cited for failure to yield. We exchanged insurance info, and I thought that was the end of it.

Next thing I knew, Enterprise was suing me for $3600 in repairs (very overinflated for the damage caused) because the other guy's insurance company wouldn't pay until they had an accounting.

When I contested it with Enterprise, they said "It might not be right, but it is the law. You signed a waiver and you are responsible. Pay it and let YOUR insurance company go after the other guys."

In other words, they were too lazy to do what they had to do so they simply sued me. Guess what? I didn't ever pay it and it is just now coming off my credit report.

I heartily recommend Enterprise as a fine company with which to NOT do business.

Hey, Diamond, hope you are able to get a resolution on the money. I am sure you would rather spend that money on something worthwhile, like fishing.

Diamond: I had the same problem when we went on vacation to San Diego a couple years ago. I complained to the corporate customer service and got a full refund on my insurance. You just have to keep after them sometimes they will take care of you. My experience was with alamo rental.

I feel your pain, I had to rent a car for 12 days this past summer and they cond me into that too, only to realize that my All State insurance covered more than their joke of insurance covered!!!
