Welcome, what general area do you like to fish? Lots of members here from all around the state. Some areas are a little thicker than others but there's usually someone that can help. Later J

The northern part of the state is usually where I fish, but when I get sick of them I will hook onto to the boat and head south for a while.

Being on the ice is by far my favorite, while it lasts anyways.

With the warmer weather we were having last week I thought the ice would be gone soon but with these colder temps this week, I'm thinking it will hang on a little while long.

So Curt do you have an auger extension? With this new foot of snow and 20+" of ice it's going to start seeming like Minnesota around here. Later J

LOL, I doubt that will happen but if it just keeps the ice on a little while longer, then I'm ok with a little more snow and cold[

Don't doubt, it's already happened at Porcupine... Cache Valley has been pounded all week with snow and there was 18" of ice last Friday, I'm thinking an extension might be needed, or at least pull the pin and make it a little longer... I can only bend over so far to keep drilling... Looks like winter will stay for a few more weeks at least up north... Later J

True but that is a small corner of the state and the rest is not getting that much ice, much less the snow. Next week they are talking about temps in the 40ies down here, so I'm not sure how long the ice will last with temps like that[:/]. Most ice augers can go through 24" of ice but that is a lot, not something I would want to drill threw with a hand auger.

Yup starting to consider a power auger and a bigger diameter. Last week I thought spring was on the way, but not today. Later J
