Heard a good report or 2 and decided to see if we could boat a biggun'.
Put in at Grasshopper and after crossing the Hiawassee knew that it might be tough due to the muddy water rolling down.
The water temp at the ramp was 41-42 and the water was plum muddy. There was a ton of bait and fish showing up mid way back into the creek but no takers. Worked our way further back and found that the water was warming a little and starting to clear up. Once we got into about 4-5 fow and the clear line was pushing into the mud we caught a 15 incher and then a 3 lber. A few casts later Cliff lost a decent fish. All of these hit 3/4oz traps (red eye in gold and LVR in craw).
Went across the lake to Sale Cr. and found it to be a mud hole until we got under the bridge and around the bend. It started to clear a little and we managed to catch a few more on medium cranks. There were over 1000 sand hill cranes back there that were raising cain!
We ventured down the lake and started hitting pockets with clearer water coming in and birds working the bait. Managed to catch another 15 incher and a few more dinks but nothing to brag about. We found water as warm as 46 in the back of a couple of creeks. The sonar showed a lot of fish in likely spots and as soon as it clears up some things should break loose!
