First of all the ice near the boat ramp is still very dangerous! I drilled many test holes some of them where at 2 1/2" others were 1 inch. So we decided not to risk it. Some people who followed us said it was better yesterday so the ice is deteriorating again.
We decided to try near the gest docks. The ice was 5" in that area and much more stable. We started out about 30 yards in front of the docks. Steelfisher limited quickly and the rest of us got a few here and there. Then a group of guys got into them thick in some other holes nearby so when they left we jumped into their spots and limited quickly.
This is a strange year for the ice I can't believe the boat ramp area is still bad.

Then myself and two friends joined windriver as he was done and filled our limits as well. The kokes left when no one was jigging. We moved close to shore after that hoping for perch but no luck. Left at 2:30 and as we got to the truck I could see that a couple more were caught by some who went where we were to start. 30 degrees at 8 and when we left but it seemed much colder as you could see your breath. Blowing 10 mph most of the time but up to 25 + or so at times. Wish the catching would be like that all the time.

Let me second everything WindRiver said I made it out there by 3:00PM. I also tested the boat ramp made it out 100 meters with test holes to an area with 3/4'' rotten ice heard a pop got out of there. Went to the ramps with the stair case and tried to get to another perch spot, found 1'' of ice. The only fishing is by the private boat docks, probably a 20 acre area. Did well for kokes and even fished till 7:30 PM with the lantern; at night it was hard to get them to bite, but with changing up your jigging pattern they eventually hit. At this time there were no large schools, but there was always one or two under the ice at various depths. Had a blast! With this being said kokes were 12-13'' and fat, but with the weather of this week and the little ice we have it is just going to get worse. I would not try it after Tuesday. and please wear a life vest and do not use the main boat ramp; don't even be tempted! This could have been a monumental koke year!
Curt69 get them while you still can!

Had a great two days of catching kokes on Ririe. The dozen or so fishermen fishing off the private docks limited out both days. The salmon were 15 to 50 feet under the ice. Dark ice equals thin ice and the milky ice was five to seven inches deep. But the weather does not look good for the next week - we will see what happens. Today several fishermen caught some 15 inch kokes, but not me.
