Went to otter creek on saturday and fished from 8 am to 2:30 pm. It was overcast and a little windy. The temps were warm, so i fished outside the shack. In our group we landed 8 fish. The biggest being 2 3/4 pounds. Not the size I was hoping for. I did bust my 10 pound test line off on one. In all it was a great trip. The next morning we headed to fishlake. What a mistake that was. The road was terrible. I had it in four wheel drive, and was still slipping and sliding all over. A friend of mine got stuck, and we didn't get to the lake until nine. It had snowed a foot of snow on the ice and still snowing. Fishing was slow. I would have moved around to find the fish, but it was snowing and blowing and I was alittle wet from earlier. I fished until 12:30 and decided to leave, due to the conditions. The roads were plowed, and halfway down off the mountain the storm broke. I almost thought may I should have stayed. I still caught a few perch and one chub. I still had a fun trip fishing with good friends from down south.

How was the ice under the snow? I am thinking of taking my kids down this weekend for perch. Was there slush?

Fished north end Sunday in the storm. Ice still 8" or more no problem getting on the hard deck. But one foot of heavy wet snow made moving around next to impossible. Fished in 20ft depths. Iced a ton of perch mostly between 7" and 9" and about 8 rainbows. Perch bite was very light and they preferred perch meat on a horizontal jig like a Rat Finkee - glow helped. No splake this time.

Ice is plenty thick. Snow is a pain in the butt. Take a shovel to clear the snow off. With the temps forecasted for the rest of the week, it may be alittle slushy. I maybe up there on sunday myself, unless I go to the hunting expo. Good luck. The kids will have fun up there.
