Trying to put a ice trip tp pineview together for my grandson and granddaughter. Just curious if anyone has been in last couple days. I cant imagine the warm weather and rain have been good. Anyone? Please let me know

I was there on Saturday and it was a wet, nasty mess. There was a ton of fresh snow on the ice with a few inches of water under that. We were standing in water all day, wasn't very fun.

I fished it on Sunday and there was about 7 inches of water on the ice. Waterproof boots don't do much good when the water is over the
. I'm afraid it looks like our ice season may end a little early.

Thanks for the reports guys. I was afraid that was what I would hear. These kids are young and Im not positive standing in 6 inches of water will make them just love ice fishing. Were the edges still good inspite of the slush on the surface??

Yes the edges were fine, just slushy like the rest of the lake.

I had a few hours yesterday evening so I ran up there to see if anything was going on. I went on the North side of Cemetery and not out very far because I only had a short time. There was probably an inch or so of new snow and then frozen slush another three inches before I got to the solid ice. I arrived around 5pm so I'm wondering if the slush had started to "re-freeze." It really wasn't all that bad. There was a couple of places that I would break through the top layer but a large majority of the time I was walking on top of everything. When I stopped to fish I cleared away a few inches of semi-solid slush. I was never standing in complete water but it was definitely less solid of slush as compared to previous weeks. The bite was good, mostly crappie with a few perch. Nothing of size for last night though.
I think if a person was to go in the middle hours of the day it might be a completely different story and probably pretty wet.

Thanks again for all the responses. My grandkids are small for their age and would also be more inclined to a morning to mid day trip. The forecast for warm temps and more rain doesnt sound good.

bump!
anyone take a look yesterday or maybe going to today, wanting to hit it Saturday if possible. I don't mind slush with my waders but the shore worries me a little getting on and off.
