This warm weather sucks for an ice fisherman.
I broke through a few days ago. The hole was big enough I could have gotten completely wet but some how this old body was lucky to move fast enough that only one leg got wet. I thought sure my new flotation suit was going to get initiated. I rolled in the water on top of the ice before I could regain my footing but that wasn't too bad. I got the water rung out of my inner pant leg and sock and drained out of my boot then caught two more fish and headed home.
With this warm weather I'm seriously thinking about getting out the long rods and try something a little less intimidating.

Where did you go through at? If we have un-safe ice around we need to know about it.

Got the tags for Gertrude, the problem is the back lot is a mud hole. Guess I better tag the bass boat.

already got tags on the jet boat..... need too get out one of these days.... but cascade still has ice..... the only reason I need too go out on the boat is too shoot carp or too catch smallies when there getting ready too spawn.....

I was thinking I would hit Ririe when the ice is gone from the boat ramp . Is the whole lake opened , or do you have to stay with in one mile of the dam . I can't find any info in the regulations .

The one mile restriction is to ice fishing only. Ririe res is open all year. I believe the ice restriction is in place to protect deer and elk during the winter from non-thinking snowmobilers and atv users.

I am not ready either . I love all kinds of fishing . Just not ready to put up the short rods .

Probably going to try and make one more trip to Island Park the end of the week. It may just end up being a slushy mess, who knows. I am indeed glad we are getting the moisture, but pretty bummed about the warm temps, seems like the ice season was way too short, especially since I was sick for 2 1/2 straight weeks right after Christmas and missed out on same dang good fishing.
