Took advantage of the nice weather yesterday and went to CJ with a friend. We arrived about 9 AM and set up at Cottonwood. The wind was calm until around noon. It wasn't fast action, but I caught a 19" rainbow and my companion caught three 12" planters and lost one around 22". When the wind kicked up the trout stopped biting so we moved to the Air Force docks and caught a few small perch before leaving around 5:00.

No ice except in the channel and boat slip area, and that was open around the edges and looking mighty rotten in the middle. Might be some ice in the narrows, but I wouldn't go out on it.

StactR, 2 weeks ago I boated from the Air Force Ramp through the Narrows, the ice was all gone. I know it was cold last week, but doubt the Narrows iced back up. I will be out there again some time this weekend. Hopefully I have something good to report.

Fishing was better this weekend, but the wind was horrible. Got some nice perch and crappie, but had to hit many spots before I hit the one that had better quality fish...

Had a nice "Deadliest Catch" ride back to the ramp in some very large whitecaps. Be aware of the weather, and make sure you remember things like having to cross the main body to get back to your rig. In the narrows the waves weren't too bad, but the main lake was a sloppy mess. A working bilge pump and life jackets are mandatory. Glad my gear was in good working order, and I had the right boat for the conditions.
