Good afternoon my fellow BFTers!

I was wondering if anyone has driven by or fished The Nelle recently? Curious because i haven't been out in a while and had heard that Jordanelle is open water. Can anyone either confirm this to be the case? I am considering taking Wednesday off work and would love some open water action. Please let me know if you can. Thanks, as always, to all!

I fished the Middle Provo today and took a drive up to the Upper Provo and it looked like the only open water was by the dam overlook. The Rock Cliff area was still capped. Other parts might be open but I only saw the southern end.

Cool, thanks. It was the south end that i'd heard was open. You didn't happen to notice how far north the open water went did you? I'm guessing not enough to get the tuna can out on it...

Sorry but I didn't notice how far. One heck of a hike if you want to shore fish though [Tongue]

Drove by around noon and there is still about 100 ft of ice in front of the ramp. Won't be long, looked to me that everything north of the ramp is still locked in. In front of the dam there was only about 40-50 ft of ice and it looked thin hope that helps.

drive by it every week day everything north of the boat ramp is still locked up. open water on the south side of the marina to the dam and a ways back into rock cliff.
It will be a while before the main ramp is open.

I doubt that they would mind if you launched from the personal water craft ramp this time of year.

When I drove to work yesterday there was standing water on the ice by the PWC ramp and it hasn't rained up here for days

It shouldn't be long before that area of the lake opens up.

Pray for wind to help break it up. [Wink]

[#800000]UF,

I looked at it yesterday afternoon on the way home from Strawberry. From what I could see driving north on US40, everything NORTH of the red line in the main body and everything EAST of the red line in the Rock Cliff Arm is ICE. There is also a narrow (maybe 30 yards) strip of ice along the dam face. I have no idea how thick the ice is, but you will NOT be launching any boats or 'toons just yet.[/#800000]

I also took a look yesterday, and there was more standing water on the ice than there has been all year. I fish it consistently and the ice is 6-8 inches depending on location, but it is very wet. Dubob- how were the ice conditions at Strawberry? Thanks

Twenty plus inches thick; no slush whatsoever; no gaps around the edges. [#00bf00] But you better not try to ice fish it; some folks floated away on a sheet of ice on Flaming Gorge last Friday so others are saying the ice in Utah is no longer safe to ice fish.[/#00bf00][#00bf00] I guess I'm lucky I didn't read that until AFTER I got home. Know what I mean?[/#00bf00][/#800000]
