Moved to the Layton area after being stationed in the south (Florida, South Carolina, and Alabama) for the last 16 years. Just ordered a new Jackson kayak which should arrive Friday and can't wait to hit the water with it. Excited for the opportunity to catch some new species of fish that they just don't have in the south.

Time to explore the site and see what insider info I can get about the area.
Welcome to the site Cuda, I'm going to move your post to the Utah board, so some of the local members can say hi.

I am stationed at Hill. Very happy with this assignment so far.
Right on! What lind of fishing are you into? Where are you originally from?

Welcome Cuda there are quite a few BFT members that work at Hill, lots of good fishing not far from base too so I think you'll like it here. Let us know what you like to try. Later J

I grew up in the Midwest but haven't lived there since '96. I just left Alabama where I mainly fished for blue cats and stripers. A couple weeks before I left I caught a 68 pound blue in the river on my kayak, it was an awesome fight. I am going to try to fish for everything while I am out here. Plan on going out this weekend to float around and explore if the weather cooperates.
Welcome to Utah CUDA, plenty of fishing here in Utah. Walleye fishing at Willard bay should take off within the next couple of weeks as their spawning season will kick in. Ice should be comming off alot of the lakes soon. Holmes Creek Res. in East Layton would be a good lake for you in the Kayak to try for bass, blue gill, crappie etc. You may have been told this already but you should go on line to the UT. Division of Wildlife Resources and take the course concerning the Invasive mussels, once completed you can print out your Decontamination Form to carry with you in your Kayak this is good for a year and there is no charge. I believe this is required for all types of watercraft in Utah. Once again welcome to Utah, I got stationed here in 1976 and never left. [fishin]

Welcome to UT. I'm a transplant myself from WI. Great place for the outdoors. I'm not a kayaker but raft the green once in a while. You'll love this State if you like the outdoors. I'm an AF Vet myself, lots of Veterans on BFT, a handful of AD and Civilian workers from Hill AFB as well.
