Looks like the lake level is back down again after all that rain we had a few days ago. The creeks are still muddy but they are the warmest water on the lake right now. I saw temps of 49 degrees on the lower end and 52 degrees on the upper end. I headed for the upper end and the warmest water available.
Looking for a jig these crappie could see in this brown water, I went with the solid black BG and 4lb Pline. Just above that I had a small foam float that I cut the end of the wire off and took the spring out of to make an instant slip bobber. Works like a charm.
Started out fishing 5ft of water. No bites. Pushed back further and further into the shallows and started catching a few. Mostly small fish but better than no fish huh? I get back to where the trolling motor is just kicking up mud everywhere ( 2 to 3 ft deep ) and this is where I found my biggest fish to be located. Didn't catch any monsters by any means but was happy to see 35 on the fish clicker as I left. Perhaps 10 of those would keep if they hadn't been released.
That's all for now.
