I fished the Willow Pond the other day and was very excited to see largemounth bass in the shallows were the water comes into the pond. Most of the fsih were 6 inches ,with some in the 12" range. I caught two on small jigs. If these fish are allowed to take hold we couls have a good summer early in the morming.

I thought they drained that one for the winter! I went by it a couple weeks ago and it looked way low!, But then I was driving by on the freekway, but I could see into it.

No the pond is full and they are stocking it with trout.

I would like to see all those gold fish taken out of the pond.

With the largemouth in there, I would think that the gold fish dont stand a chance, But then again I dont know how big they are????

There are hundreds of 1 lb goldfish in the pond.

WOW!!!! Yeah if they are that bad in there, then they need to market the fact for people to catch and keep!!! Now here is a question, can dead gold fish meat be used for fishing on other bodies of water in the state?????

Aren't goldfish a type of carp?
[signature]
Yeah, they're both members of the minnow family.

It should be legal to use dead goldfish on other waters in the state since its a nongame fish.I wonder if they taste good, has anyone ever ate one?

[cool]If anyone wants to earn a free trip to southern Arizona or California, load up a bunch of those 1 pound goldfish and truck 'em down. The hardcore flathead cat anglers down here pay top dollar for big baits.
Yes, they are just carp all dressed up in fancy pajamas. Some of the exotic koi carp, from Japan, can fetch prices in the thousands of dollars for certain color patterns.
In short, if you want to get rid of anything, put a price tag on it and wait for the greedy types to clean em out.

hey, there's hardly any goldfish left in there now, most of them died during summer due to some sort of bacterial disease. Also trout stocking has ended for the season according to a wildlife guy I talked to just today. Good to hear about the bass taking hold.

I don't think so. I was looking at a school of them 6ft wide and 30ft long stacked up tight. This was last week.

They won't ever be able to get rid of them. Their like carp-no matter how many you kill, they ALWAYS come back. I'm pretty sure thats why they put in all of those nice big Lakers in there last spring. Didn't work, though. I took a few of them home last summer for my cats to play with. Kinda funny to see a cat wet up to the shoulder trying to kill a goldie!

I don't know if this is true but I talked to someone who said the DWR put the goldfish in there to see if anything would live, before stocking the pond with other fish.
