Getting pretty antsy. I know we are getting pretty close to deadwater breaking. Looking at the weather it could happen the end of this week. Anyone gave any current info? Thanks

Talked to Pam at the north fork on Friday. She said it was 2-3 days out then. I haven't heard an update since, but a friend of my cousin is out there today. I'll try to update as I get more info.
According to Kendra at the NF Store, the jam is sitting right at Deadwater. As of 5:30p, the temp was still at 43, and with the forecast in the mid-40's over the next week, my guess is that DW will blow by Wed. This weekend ought to be good....

Looking forward to fish!

I'll bet a dollar that it breaks this week....

The poor fish are in for a "butt whooping" after that...!!!!!

I'm hearing the ice is sitting at dead water as of today. The water is muddy though.

Yeah I've been getting the same info. I bet it goes by the weekend. I'll be up there next Thursday so I think it might be pretty good by then. Thanks for the info.

Looks like I'll be headed up next Thursday too. We have a long drive from out of state and get there late at night, but we'll fish Friday, Saturday, and possibly Sunday morning before heading back home. We'll be in a black Tahoe with Utah plates, so if you see us come say hi. My dad, brothers, and I fish with my cousin who is from IF (my mom's an Idahoan) so we fish how he's taught us, but I'm always open to hearing how others fish and trying new techniques, especially if the bite is slow. I know some guys have a thing against "Utards" as I've heard us called on various message boards, but we've been treated well on the salmon our one trip every year, and we sure appreciate the chance to get out and share the resource. What a special thing you guys have with anadromous fish in Idaho! Wish we had something like it closer to home.

In case anyone is wondering, I just got word that deadwater blew as today. Woohoo! Time to rip lips. [fishon]

I also heard from the NF Village that DW went out today....three days of muddy water, and fishing ought to be golden.....

From 8 mile down its chocolate milk from all of this warm weather and run off. It's gonna be awhile before it's fishable. River has risen over a foot in town in the last 24 hours. It's a mess right now. We fished from Deer Gulch all the way to 8 mile today and never touched a steelhead. Everyone we talked to had the same luck today.

How is the river above town is it as bad

Its going to be a week to ten days at least for the mud to clear and the east fork is going to blow out soon as well the fish will be moving soon after

Where exactly is the east fork? Is that upstream from the city of salmon or does it come into the salmon river downstream in the narrows? Sorry, I don't know the tributaries other than Lemhi, Pahsimeori, and the middle fork.
Satch, the East Fork is upstream from Challis....

Thanks huntsman. I hope it doesn't blow this week. My limited knowledge/experience tells me that would make fishing pretty crappy for at least several days afterward downstream if it muddies the water downstream. That would kill my plans for next weekend.
Above challis like I said a week to ten days before it going to get good
