Well I post up last week for everyone's opinions on state record lake trout. Just thought I'd share some pics of fish that I have caught in pursuit of a record fish. I still have a LONG road ahead but I'm hard at it. All these fish have been caught and released in the last 2 weeks. Also wanna say thank to my buddy clark sabey for sticking it out with me on the water. In 4 days of fishing we caught over 30 fish with a 20-21lb average

fantastic fish. Congratulations.
I remember in the 70's when ray Johnson and Bob Bringhurst were chasing after the world record Brown Trout at Flaming Gorge. I was aboard Rays boat several times when he caught 30 lb browns, but never did break the world record in spite of 100's of giant fish.
I would suspect that most world records and state records are accidental catch, but these two fished hundreds of day to accomplish what they did. That perseverance paid off. Bob has several records (Utah) and Ray has many state and world records including world record yellow perch from Yuba in the 80's that still stand.
As you might know, there are several agencies that keep records, certainly each state has its own records, but the official all specie fresh and salt water for the world is the International game Fish Association (IGFA) If you haven't already join this great conservation organization I would recommend that you do. You do not have to be a member to submit a fish for a record, but their rules are complex and very rigid and membership gives you the record book, rules and advise. Good luck on your attempt. With your determination you just might catch the largest Lake Trout ever submitted or released.

Nice fish! Clark is a fun guide to fish with and he isn't scared to go out when no one else is. A couple of your pics with fish in the boat is the same place my wife and I got big fish through the ice just 2 weeks ago. It looks like its time to plan a trip! Nice post!
