Hi guys and gals,
My buddy Mike and I decided to try to rid ourselves of some spring fever today, and made the trip to Joes Valley to check it out. Its about 40% iced off, but the remaining ice is only about 4" thick, so it should be coming off real soon [cool] We fished from shore for a few hours and caught three splake in the 14" to 16" range. Attached are a few pics.
After that we went by Scofield to try to catch some chubs below the dam. It took us awhile, but we did manage 15 chubs and about 50 small trout. There is no water being released from the lake, so there's just a handful of very small pools below the dam, but they are full of small trout. Most of the fish that we did catch came out of a pool that was the size of my living room.
If you want to ice fish, Scofield is the place.... not even a hint of melting there. HTH, Fred K.
