Hi. My name is James. I am a fisherman who is new to Idaho. I am trying to plan my first steelhead trip up to the Salmon river. I know that the river is blown out right now but I was wondering how many days it will take to clear up enough to fish. The weather report for this week looks like it will rain early then be pretty nice for the rest of the week. Is 3 or 4 days enough time to clear up the river and make it fishable? Thanks in advance.

It's slowly coming around. It was looking much much better above Salmon today. The Lemhi is still running mud, but is getting better. We are hoping by next weekend it should be fishable again. It really depends on how much rain we get this week and how cold it gets at night.

judging by the forcast and deadwater breaking up. I would fish this coming weekend.

Thanks guys. If the weather does what it says its going to then I will definitely be up there next weekend. I am thinking of fishing the salmon east of riggins for my first trip mainly because it is closely accessible to Boise. I'm sure it will probably be packed if the weather is nice but I guess that's to be expected. Thanks again for the info. Ill post on conditions and anything that worked if I do well.
