Having never caught a walleye I'd like to give it a shot. I know that having a boat makes it a lot easier to get around trying to tempt a 'Mythical Eye' into biting, But is it possible to catch them from the shore here? I work Maybe 10~ minutes away from Lincoln beach and was thinkin' I'd give it a shot on my lunch break.

thoughts? Advice? Suggestions? Lure of Choice? Time of day? All appreciated Smile

For what it is worth. Get a pair of hip boots or chest waders and wade out from the orchards at Lincoln beach. You'll see other anglers out there.

If you don't have boots, walleye are caught on the north facing side of the jettys and off the ends and you don't have to get your feet wet.

The water is low so you can wade a long way out but use caution to avoid going into a hole over your boots.

Cast a 1/8th ounce jig head with a plastic grub or a half night crawler and swim it back to you slowly. A small plastic swim bait might also be good. The bottom is very rocky (that's why the spawners are there) and the rocks are not weathered river rocks, they are porous and you will loose lots of jigs if you use too heavy of heads.
Good luck with your efforts. patience is the key here. It is still early for the best fishing.
I don't know how much time I am going to have available, but if you would like to fish with me in my boat that can be arranged. Be cautioned, however, I'm not your stake president type and aboard my boat I do things my way, but we might catch a fish or two if the conditions are right.

Your Boat, Your Rules. Wink (Besides, what good is a 'steak president' when you're after fish[sly]) I'd love to get on out a boat any chance I can get. When is your next trip out?
