I am going to hit up the Lindon boat harbor on Monday and try some fishing on the toon. If anyone is interested in joining me on their tubes or toons come on out! We can make it a BFT flotilla.

I might see you there. I plan on taking the big red beast out Monday. Look for a red boat built in the 60's and that will be me and mamatrout.

Looks like a picked a horrible day to go to Utah Lake. I get out there about 7:45 AM. it was a little windy and chilly. Got the toon all ready to go and out on the water I went. Out of the harbor and started to fish. Not so much as a nibble all day long. And I had a hard time finding water over 5 feet deep.

I even motored myself down to the bubble up. Got all the way out to the buoys and nothing there either. Nada. Oh well. It was better than sitting at home. For all I know, I am fishing it wrong. I soaked a worm and threw plastics.

I made it back to the harbor and got out of the water right on time. As soon s I got up, that wind picked up. It almost felt like a hurricane. It was so bad that on my way back to Salt lake, my poor little 86 Toyota barely could get going fast enough to get out of 4th gear.

[#0000FF]I have been known to mutter something like "The best time to go fishing is whenever you can get away." But that ain't always so. Sometimes the effort involved just ain't worth the effort.

My own personal preference...when planning a tube trip...is to go only after at least two days of stable weather following a front. Three or more is better. And to try to go fishing during a front passage is usually just setting yourself up for a lot of exercise and very little catching.

I admire your dedication and commitment but not your personal standards for planning trips. Sometimes it is best to forego a trip and take care of things you'd rather not have to do the next time you plan a good trip.

There is probly a way to do it, but windy spring days at UL always defeat me, too. I do better if the wind is offshore than onshore, too, either from bank or tube.

Next time watch the weather. Not gospel, but spring on UL I always look for a warming trend. Actual temps are important, but if the temp, both water and air, are rising I do better than wind, falling temps or after a front. Like right now, if I could, I'd look for 2-3 days of sunny nice days and fish the afternoon of the third day, or hthe next.

You hit the nail on the head!! Unfortunately, this was the only day I could go.I am hoping next week Mother Nature will cooperate a little more.

[#0000FF]You may have doomed yourself already. Call me superstitious but I try to avoid planning a trip more than a day or so ahead. Otherwise, our huffy Mama N. has time to gather up her fans and sprinklers for your enjoyment.[/#0000FF]

Im hoping she used up all her energy. She did a lot of huffing and puffing today. Just not much of the sprinkling.
