[#800000]I’m not at all sorry for contributing to the hijack started by others; the ridiculous statements by others dissing our senior citizens deserved and demanded opposing comments. That said, I am offering the following information to get this thread back on track to the original theme – the 2-pole modification for Utah fishing folks.[/#800000]

[#800000]I was able to finally find the budget bill that contains the new fee schedule proposed by the Wildlife Board last year. The signing of this bill by the Governor in its final form will set new license fees effective July 1, 2014 and eliminate the need for a 2-pole permit after that date provided you have purchased a higher cost fishing license on or after that date. I would assume that if you purchase your license before that date then you will still need to have the 2-pole permit to actually fish with 2 poles. But further guidance and clarification on that point will need to come from the DWR.[/#800000]

[#800000]The bill I looked at is HB 8 which is over 200 pages long and contains almost 8,000 line items. To make it easier for you to find the specific line items of interest here, here are the appropriate numbers to look for in the bill.[/#800000]

[#800000]A couple of observations; there is no Hunting or Combination license fee listed for Disabled Veterans, and you can by a multiple year (up to 5 years) fishing or combination license for a $1 fee reduction per year if you are 18-64 but not if you are over 65.[/#800000]

[#800000]So there you have it. Assuming the Governor will sign the budget proposals, the new license fees will become effective on July 1, 2014 and the 2-pole permit will no longer be required to fish with 2 poles on or after that date as long as you have purchased one of the new higher cost licenses.[/#800000]

[#800000]I’m thankful that our State Government has wisely chosen to honor our senior citizens by offering them with a discounted fee for the combination and fishing licenses. It was the correct thing to do. And for those naysayers against treating our senior citizens with the respect that most of them have earned, I just have one final gesture:[/#800000]
