I have been working and traveling a lot the last 2 months but I have been able to get on the water a few times on the weekends dodging cold fronts and rain.

The huge reds have thinned out but I have caught a couple the last month off the beach along with black sea bass and some white trout. I hear there are still some bulls around Indian Pass as well and plan to try that the next time I get to go.

There are some good slots in the lagoon area and I have been getting out there in a small Jon boat paddling around - the place can be full of life one day and shut down the next when a cold front comes through.

The nice thing is that the sheepshead have been hungry this month - I have located several productive areas to target them using fiddler crabs and shrimp. Last year around Spring we caught even larger ones as they moved out to the bay so hoping to replicate again this year during Spring break.

I know this is not a Chattanooga area report but I get several messages every few months asking about what’s biting where down here from forum members who intend to visit so posting for those interested. It’s a great place to fish - water temps have been 60-65 during the last month.

I hear 70 is the magic number where things are really going to get going with Spanish, Cobia, and Huge Jacks - excellent time for sight fishing off the clear water of the cape. A few pics below of this great area and a few of the fish we have caught since January:
