Ok first off one of the many draw backs of being a CBA officer is having to be in early and have to weigh in first. So here we go, both of these days started and ended almost the same way. All fish were caught on a hand full of different baits (Jerk baits , Rattle baits, Square bills, Chatterbait and we even flipped up a few). In both tournaments we had a limit early. All of our fish came from shallow to real freaking shallow water and it seemed the muddier the better. In the February CBA we had about 40 mins until we had to be in and start setting up for the weigh in so I made a long cast and ripped my bait once or twice when my Rod loaded up. The fish jumped a few times but I never saw it because I was watching the rod tip and then it jumped about 10 ft from the boat and we knew it was a good one. That was the 9.11 lb one. Well we went about 20 ft and Brad set the hook! This fish fought harder than the last one and ended up being 6.50 lbs or so but was the one that got us our final weight and the win along with big fish. In this last one the day went about the same. We had a limit early but we had a lot more boats to deal with. There were college kids everywhere but Brad managed to catch fish all around them and help cull up to 19 or 20 lbs by 3:20. So with about 25 mins to go we stopped on a spot just to finish the day off. After about 6 cast Brad missed one and then I missed one. Then my rod loaded up and in seconds it threw the hook and I new it was a good one but I never saw it. So now we are really running out of time and I'm watching the clock because if an officer isn't in on time somebody will complain. So I make a real long cast and after about 5 rips the rod loads up and I know it's a good one! The fish jumps and all I hear is Brad saying, "WOAH!" Thank God I didn't see it then but once it got close to the boat it came up and all I could see is my bait barely in its mouth. The fish made one more run and came up close enough to get the net under it as we put the fish in the boat and the bait fell out of her mouth. Now my new personal best is 10.67 lb bass that went in to the live well at 3:35. So it just goes to show anybody can win one of these and get real close to winning two. Congrats to Roy and Drew on the win .
