Hi All,
I am glad I have finally found a place to get and share local knowledge on fishing. I am a Bass fisherman from the Midwest. I'm still not familiar with Idaho fishing spots at all. As mentioned, my favorite fishing is for Large mouth Bass but I also like to fish for just about anything that will tug on the line. I have caught carp, catfish, lake trout, bluegill, sunfish, crappie, perch, striped bass, small mouth bass, whitefish and brown trout on purpose. I caught a 3 &1/2 foot gar completely unintended. He grabbed my bluegill I was reeling in. Scared the worms out of me! I enjoy any type of fishing including ice.
I look forward to learning alot and helping anyone I can with my experience.

I do have a boat. It needs a bit opf work to get it on the water again. I would like tournament fishing. I used to fish a tourney in Wisconsin 20 years ago. It was great fun even tho we did not do that well. A day on the lake was great either way.
Owyhee is on the border. DO you need an Oregon license to fish?

Actually Owyhee is completely in Oregon, and yes you need an Oregon license. You can get one at the store in Adrian on your way over.

There is not a better way to learn the waters than being in a boat with a local. Lots of clubs in the Boise area and the FLW/TBF ones area having membership drives. Checkout the the Idaho Bass Federation website. I'm in Twin Falls and I'll help you all I can. Snake river is full of smallmouth.

A good variety of fish in SW Idaho. Many of the lakes are still pretty cold, but should be heating up soon. CJ Strike is good for bass, crappie, perch, and trout. The Snake River has smallmouth, catfish, and lots of carp. Some of the close Snake River reservoirs besides CJ are Swan Falls, Brownlee, and Oxbow. They pretty much have the same mix that the river does. Lake Lowell is also a good area to try. It is in a bird refuge so it has some different regulations. Be sure and read them carefully.
