[#800000][font "Comic Sans MS"][size 3]I called the Glen Canyon NRA Quagga Mussel Program Director and talked with her for about 15 minutes today. At the present time, if you go to Lake Powell and ask the decontamination station attendant to clean your boat at the time of departure, they will do it. There really isn't a written policy on this function right now, but the Director told me they are having some management level discussions on this right now and that a decision on what to do in the future should be forthcoming in the next two weeks. The Director will call me back with the results of that policy decision.
With well over 400,000 boat launches every summer, it is understandeble why a policy of this nature needs to be established and they are aware of that need and are working to solve the issue. I also understand how preventing further contamination from boats entering might be a higher priority over boats leaving during their busier times of the year.
I'll post any further information I get from the Director.
