Thanx. Chome.

Gotta, check on some people around may. If I am lucky I will not hear a wolf story. Might just tag along.

I posted a report from 3/15-16 on another thread.

My dad and a friend fished Dutch Oven area the 20-23. Hooked 3 landed 1. Good reports have been few and far between.

I don't really feel like the best share of them have made it out of the canyon just yet. Unless they have did it since my dad left on Sunday...

Just returned from fishing around the Stanley area. Fishing was pretty slow. Most people we talked with had the same experience. Me and the guy I was with landed only 6 fish in 2.5 days of very hard fly-fishing.

thats a heck of a lot better than no fish. plus its still early for that upper section.

Chrome, are people catching fish on the SF Clearwater anywhere but the snag hole? I was there 2 weeks ago, and that was the only hot spot. Had hoped to go last week during spring break, but was of course laid up with pneumonia the entire week I had off. Wondering if I should go back up for some big'uns, or just set my sighmts on Stanley.

Nijimasu I think you should come up and fish with me on tuesday this week!!!! wednesday or thursday would work too.

Fished from the pahsimeroi hole to Royal Gorge Friday and Saturday. Fishing was pretty slow landed 5 fish. I would say we did a little better then average. Sounded like most people were frustrated with the fishing. Sounded like it was pretty good earlier in the week and maybe the cold streak that went through shut them down a little.

Salmon river fish this year appear to be in clumps and gaps that last 1-3 days. Gonna be pretty tough to hit a clump on the head.

Of all the reports I have heard this year (and I get a lot), no one has topped what you did that one day.

Anybody out there fishing the upper river ?

We fished all day yesterday from above Stanley down to below Yankee fork. Slow day for the most part. I hooked one Steelhead and only had it on for 5 seconds. Talked to people who had caught a few combat fishing at sunbeam. I didn't see a steelhead all day. I am very new to steelhead fishing so keep my abilities in mind. We fly fished with nymph/egg patterns.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the report!

How is the river holding up as far as color and flow? I may be heading up in a week and a half so hopefully the fish are still running and the river stays in good shape.

The river was clear everywhere we fished. It was fairly cool for the few days before we were there so really no run off at all. I am not very experienced fishing the salmon but the flow seemed about perfect for fly fishing. We fished a number if holes that looked ideal for steelhead I just don't think there were very many fish around. You might be hitting it about perfect if you go in a week or so. Good luck!

Thanks flyguy, I appreciate the report. Hopefully I can get up there and find a few fish.
