My father and I spent another Saturday morning at Deer Creek.

It was a great morning to be up there. Light winds, partly sunny skies, and fairly mild temperatures made for an ideal early spring day for the fishermen.

The fishies seemed to agree. After another fairly slow start (just 2 in the first hour) we finally found the magic lure for yesterday (hunter orange spinner) and it was on.

Three hours later we pulled the boat out at noon as the wind and rain made their appearance with 26 fish boated -- four filleted for family lunch today.

Unlike every other trip up there this year, our fly poles were almost skunked (they are usually the hottest ticket). This week had I not chucked the orange spinner in the total would have been less than 10.

Any tips on where to setup from shore and good techniques to get into a few trout? I need a boat and may need to resolve this continual problem. Any Deer Creek shore fishing help would be appreciated.

My favorite shore fishing lure for Deer Creek trout was a gold jakes thrown out as far as I can... let it sink for the count of 20, then slow jerky retrieve just fast enough to keep it off the bottom.

Most of my Deer Creek shore fishing was targeting other species though (Perch and Bass).
