I'm less than a mile from the LP in town and there's what looks like a BWO male spinner sitting on the outside of my window. It looks like about a size 18 would match. There have been some BWO hatching going on on the Spanish Fork River. I stopped by this morning on the way to work. Didn't get any fishing done, but I did see a little activity.

Stopped by the LP for about 90 minutes on a "businessmans lunch" to test some flies I recently purchased. Yes, a few BWO's were going off, plus some sort of midge. Not many fish coming up to chase them however.
Bite was tough. Got a couple of consolation sized browns, lost one nice one. Other days recently have been better.

I love throwing a #16 parachute PMD or a Cripple, but I try to always have a dropper. Sunset Sow Bug, killer on the LP.

Well, fishing was pretty bad for me but it seemed everyone was doing well using sow bugs. They where rising to some 24 midges. And hade nothing like that. So I nymphed and cought one on a coper john. It was really pretty on the river though. Crystal-clear water fish rising everywhere. So that made the bad fishing good.
There was no blue wing olives or pmds coming off.

What color is a sunset sow bug? I've noticed on the past couple of trips that I'm still getting them on sows, but they seem to have switched from the greys, which had been killer a month ago and all autumn/winter, to a more cream color. (and yes, it was sows that scored me some fish on the last trip, not the sj's I was testing)

A sunset sow is Rainbow Dubbing which can appear tannish. Then an ORANGE floss stripe down the back.
I have also tied them with Orange Scud back
I like size 14 or 16.
