Looking to take my 6 year old daughter out for a few hours tomorrow. Pick her up from school at 10 so it'll be mid morning to late afternoon. Thinking utah lake or deer creek both would be from shore. Any tips or hints would be greatly appreciated. I want to get her into some fish to get her excited about fishing.

Utah lake should be good, i would go to provo bout harbor and cast some jigs if you catch a white bass cut it up and use a chunk of it on the bottom, me and my 5yr old son caught about 2020 in 2the hrs last year around mid april, and for deer creek i would go to rainbow bay and use power bait, my freind and his buddy caught thwir limit in 3half hrs monday. Good luck and give us a report

I hate this phone lol i i cant see my spelling sound if i touch the wrong button it spells it wrong, but anyways if your using jigs 1/8 ounce jig head and light green and white is my favorite colors, and you cant lose by using a worm youll probably mainly catch mudcats but to a kid a fish is a fish right? You should probably catch plenty of those to make her have a good time bud!

OK DV8, Since you have not posted a report of our day, I will. (Probably cause you got skunked...I understand [laugh]. We arrived at Provo boat harbor at noon, left at 3:30. Started out at the mouth of the river, no bites in 45 min. went to the end of the south dyke and fished both sides with only one bite for DV8, He was busy assisting his daughter and missed it[Wink]. We then moved back to the middle of the dyke and fished in the harbor where the floating docks are. nothing in an hour, and then in the last 30 min. I caught 2 mudcats. A DWR officer stopped by as I was un hooking the last one, and he said that was the 1st fish he had seen caught all day.

Overall, a nice day out but very slow fishing.

That was a good summary of our trip Strikes. I may have the smell of skunk on me but watching my little girl get excited reeling in that last one made it all worth it.
